Khachanov part ways with Martich. Chesnokov will help him until the end of the season
Karen Khachanov has completed his collaboration with Croatian coach Vedran Martic. They have known each other since Karen was 15 years old, and have worked together intermittently for most of his professional career. Back in the summer, Khachanov called Martic his head coach and a man who knows his game practically from his junior days.
During the period of their collaboration, Khachanov's main achievements occurred: winning the Masters in Paris in 2018, climbing to a record eighth place in the ATP rankings and three Grand Slam semifinals — the US Open-2022, the Australian Open-2023 and the US Open-2026.
The last big result of the tandem was the current US Open. Khachanov reached the semifinals of the Slam for the first time since 2023 and repeated his best result in New York, where he lost to Alexander Zverev. — 3:6, 6:7(7), 6:7(6).
Andrey Chesnokov will join Khachanov's team by the end of the season. For Karen, this will be the beginning of a new stage after many years of working with Martic.
This is not the first time Martic has left Khachanov's team: their cooperation has already been interrupted, including in 2020, and at the end of 2021 they started working together again. Karen himself has repeatedly called the Croat not only a coach, but also a close person and a family member.
